Manifest Destiny

There’s something that calls the East to the West,
an unspoken command that makes us move and expand—
a manifest destiny impossible to suppress.

The horizon– incessant in need– implores,
like the moon to the tides, pushing in on all sides,
Whispering, promising: “I am yours to explore.”

With a booming fervency it will never quit,
Chanting our destiny; our curiosity festering
It unfurls the world while unraveling our wits.

Mayor’s Office of Education Legacy Report

Mayor’s Office of Education- An Inside Look

This is a PDF version of a printed report I co-headed for the Mayor’s Office of Education.

On this project I wrote content for some of the pages, worked with other organizations to provide content, edited for some grammar and content, as well as worked with a design company to create the overall document.

Lightyears

You’ve been short with me all day, so I’m surprised you take the long way home. And the silence stretches further than the space between us.

Lightyear is the word that comes to mind — measuring distance but connoting time. We are lightyears away from who we used to be, but we aren’t any closer to being close.
